Welcome to www.cannonballbuddy.blogspotcom why cannonball buddy? Simple...the race is called the Cannonball Run, and I will be Riding my Genuine Buddy scooter. this will be a place for all you scooter nerds out there to see what i've done to prepare for the trip, the research I've done, the products and gear I've used, and hopefully I can send reports of my progress before and during my cross-country journey. I will be riding over three thousand miles on a 125cc Genuine Buddy scooter.

Congratulations on your TW article. As I ride a scooter (a maxi scooter) it caught my eye. I bet you have a great adventure no matter how it turns out. When I read you'd be riding a 125cc Buddy I have to admit that I said to myself, "he'll never make it" but I also read your comments and requests for advice on the Cannonball Run blog and can see you are trying to cover every angle. I guess I'm remembering travel journals of folks riding older vintage Vespas etc. on long trips that experienced break down after breakdown. I hope you all get your support vehical as it will make life a lot easier. It will be interesting to see what your top speed will be in the mountain passes. I've read the responses you got on whether to re-jet or not but I'm also wondering if you'll experience any vapor lock in your fuel line? I don't really know if this is applicable to your scooter fuel system but my old air cooled VW bug used to have this problem when I went west and hit the mountains in the hot summer. I have a small trailer that could be used to carry your scooter up to CA if you wish to borrow it - if you end up driving.
Best of luck.
